Who We Are
Hudson Sheet Metal is an industrial and commercial sheet metal and mechanical contractor located in the Hanover Industrial Air Park in Ashland, Virginia, convenient to I-95 and I-295. The company performs mechanical construction including HVAC systems and custom metal fabrication and installation.
Our business is mechanical construction. This includes but is not limited to HVAC systems and custom metal fabrication. We manufacture and install high and low pressure sheet metal ducts, material handling chutes, equipment guards, hoods, dust collection and vacuum systems, custom platforms, ladders, wainscoting, structures and supports, metal stacks, cabinets, tanks, containers, miscellaneous flashings and other custom products. Our administrative and fabrication buildings occupy 30,000 square feet on a 6 acre parcel. In addition to utilizing computerized drafting, welding and plasma cutting equipment, we maintain a large inventory of galvanized steel, carbon steel, aluminum, stainless steel, copper and brass materials.
Our History
Hudson Sheet Metal was founded by C.W. “Wally” Hudson, Jr. The business opened in 1967 and is based in Ashland, Virginia. Over the decades, we've grown from a handful of people to a full-service contractor with in-house design, fabrication, and installation capabilities.
Hudson Sheet Metal is 100% owned by Mrs. Beverly Hudson and continues to operate as a family business committed to safety, quality and to providing our customers with the best service possible. Our projects are completed on time and on budget.
Our Facility & Capabilities
Hudson operates from a modern fabrication facility in Virginia with:
- ✓30,000 square feet of administrative and fabrication space located on 6-acres
- ✓Uses computerized drafting plus welding and plasma cutting equipment
- ✓In-house CAD and design capabilities for project engineering and shop drawings
- ✓Experienced field crews with the tools and training to execute installations safely
We have the capacity to handle large projects—multiple jobs running simultaneously in the shop and in the field—while still maintaining quality and attention to detail.

Chip Hudson, Vice President/COO
Second-generation of Hudson Sheet Metal with over 50 years with the company. Chip started in the shop and worked through project management and operations before taking leadership. He's focused on maintaining the company's reputation for quality and expanding capabilities to serve evolving client needs.
Donna Thomas, Corporate Manager
Donna oversees shop operations, fabrication, and field crews. With over 30 years in the sheet metal trade, Donna ensures that every project is fabricated to spec and installed with the quality and safety standards clients expect.
Steve Guza, Manager, Mechanical Division
Steve leads the estimating and project management team, working directly with clients to scope projects, develop accurate quotes, and manage execution from contract through closeout. His focus is clear communication and making the process straightforward for clients.
Philip Hudson, Project Manager
Hudson employs skilled fabricators, welders, installers, and support staff—many of whom have been with the company for 10+ years. Our people take pride in their work, and it shows in the quality of what we deliver.
