Who We Are
Hudson Sheet Metal is a family-owned industrial sheet metal and mechanical contractor based in Virginia. For more than 50 years, we've been serving manufacturers, processors, commercial contractors, and facility owners across the region—building a reputation for quality work, reliable execution, and straightforward professionalism.
We're not the biggest contractor, but we're big enough to handle complex, multi-hundred-thousand-dollar projects—and small enough that you'll talk to people who actually make decisions. When you call Hudson, you get experienced estimators, skilled fabricators, and field crews who've been doing this work for years.
Our History
Hudson Sheet Metal was founded in the early 1970s by the Hudson family, starting as a small fabrication shop serving local industrial clients. Over the decades, we've grown from a handful of people to a full-service contractor with in-house design, fabrication, and installation capabilities.
Through the years, we've invested in our facility, our equipment, and our people. We've built long-term relationships with clients who call us back project after project—not because we're the cheapest, but because we show up, we execute, and we solve problems. We're still family-owned, still based in Virginia, and still focused on doing good work for industrial and commercial clients who need it done right.
Our Facility & Capabilities
Hudson operates from a modern fabrication facility in Virginia with:
- ✓20,000+ square feet of shop space for fabrication, welding, and assembly
- ✓Overhead cranes for handling large, heavy components
- ✓Modern fabrication equipment including plasma cutting, forming, rolling, and welding
- ✓In-house CAD and design capabilities for project engineering and shop drawings
- ✓Experienced field crews with the tools and training to execute installations safely
We have the capacity to handle large projects—multiple jobs running simultaneously in the shop and in the field—while still maintaining quality and attention to detail.

Leadership & Team
John Hudson, President
Third-generation owner of Hudson Sheet Metal with over 25 years with the company. John started in the shop and worked through project management and operations before taking leadership. He's focused on maintaining the company's reputation for quality and expanding capabilities to serve evolving client needs.
Mike Patterson, Operations Manager
Mike oversees shop operations, fabrication, and field crews. With over 30 years in the sheet metal trade, Mike ensures that every project is fabricated to spec and installed with the quality and safety standards clients expect.
Sarah Chen, Estimating & Project Management
Sarah leads the estimating and project management team, working directly with clients to scope projects, develop accurate quotes, and manage execution from contract through closeout. Her focus is clear communication and making the process straightforward for clients.
Hudson employs skilled fabricators, welders, installers, and support staff—many of whom have been with the company for 10+ years. Our people take pride in their work, and it shows in the quality of what we deliver.
